Traveling for us is as much about people as is about places. The people that we go to visit, that we meet somewhere on the road, the people that join us on our travels. This year while camping in Maitai Bay, as always we made new friends! A very cool Polish family from Wrocław! And since they live in Hamilton we found various reasons to go there and pay them a visit. In last 9 months we have been there 3 times already. To celebrate Lila's birthday, Easter, and our wedding anniversary. Obviously the more we got to know Lila and her family the more we ended up knowing the Waikato region. Here you can have a quick look on our mini Waikato travels.
1. Lila's birthday. A hipish gathering, not far from Raglan, with a surprising psycho trans music. During that time we also randomly met our reader! Gosia, Lila's sister was coming all the way from Polad to celebrate her birthday. And when she saw us on that campground, first thing she said, it was : "you look very similar to guys who are also living in NZ and who's blog I am following " Which felt very unusual, so I suggested we might be THESE PEOPLE.
2. For Easter we took our bikes. Once the melting chocolate egg hunt was done, we were mostly trying to cycle in the region. Bike paths around Cambridge, and Karangahake, were really well maintained and picturesque.
3. Our wedding anniversary. August is the month when we always try to skip winter and go to travel to some warm places. So we got used to the idea of us celebrating anniversary somewhere on the go. This year, we are as always going to be away, but the travel will start only by the end of August. That is why, we decided to at least go outside of Auckland. Planning weekend in that lovely Karangahake holiday house was a great idea!
