Some time ago Ola was studying Chinese and Vathsan was as a 'Backpackeveryday' kind of guy. One day we met
(in China) and simply fell in love.
That's the fastest way to describe how two travelers started their multicultural family.
Now Ola is known as Mama and Vathsan is called Papa, but we still travel and try to get the best out of it.
For the first five years we were living in Auckland and made it our base to explore nearby Pacific Islands.
We were backapcking with 7 months old baby Yana in Tonga, got married in Vanuatu and cycled across Samoa.
Then we went through series of visits. We flew all the way to Asia and Europe to hangout with :
- Tamil grandparents in India
-Vathsan's sister in Singapore
- Polish grandparents in Poland
- a friend in Czech Republic
- and Ola's brother& family in Uk
We also sneaked one trip to Sri Lanka without kids :)
Now we are still living in New Zealand but this time in Dunedin, a student town situated at the bottom of South Island. We are currently busy exploring the beautiful region of Otago and Southland (with all the penguins, seals and sea lions).
Although the tempo of our travel is usually quite slow, we show the world to our kids in fun, active way.
We walk, hike, swim, snorkel, dive, surf, boogie board, stand up paddle and make sand castles.
Or should I say, sometimes castles, but very often we just dig a big hole till we make it to water? : )
We cycle, drive cars, hitch rides on pick'ups, take very small planes, buses, boats and ferries.
We have our own channel on Youtube where we post our family/ trip movies.
You can also watch these videos by clicking little movies section.
We are in cooperation with several websites, once in a while Ola publishes her travel stories. These are the articles which you can check by clicking written stories on the main menu.
We run the blog always in English, but you can also click on ChinOlka project to have a look at Ola's pictures and stories (in Polish) from China back in 2008.
To make sure you will not be missing on any fun thing we do , fallow us on instagram and facebook!
Stay tuned
Peace & Love from The Family!
