Back to Warsaw. From Olomouc via Łódź.

We usually don't get very excited when it comes to visiting cities. From our perspective, it's

actually much easier to take kids to nature. And we are not the best when it comes to reading too much guide books about architecture either.... But Olomouc was less than 150 km away from Breclav, so we decided to hop on a train and give it a go! And we don't have much trains in NZ, so every excuse to catch a train is good, right?

Olomouc suppouse to be a good choice for people who are not going to see Prague.

It is smaller in terms of area and number of people, but full of beautiful ( mostly baroque ) monuments, and students, as it's home to country's second oldest university. Sadly, when we came student's weren't there as they were still on they summer holidays.

Of course, you could tell we are in a student town, as we could spot quite a bit of cool

vegeterian/ vegan/ Chai places, , but streets felt empty.

They were mostly filled with young mummies and middle age people.

But buildings did not go anywhere, so we could still do some sightseeing.

For example we went to see an astronomical clock, which is part of city's Hall.

Every midday , the clock rotates....12 social-realism heroes, figures representing different working classes. It used to be Saints, but there have been some changes made back in the 50s.

Worth to see. We thought our kids will love it, but the first day when Vathsan went with Yana around that place, city got all noisy, filled with sirens as they were doing a mock-up terrorist attack....

So it turned up to be a little bit too noisy and scary for Yana, to appreciate the clock.

After these few city days in Czech, it was time for us to get back to Poland.

We had this idea in mind to first go to Łódź

( the city which name looks like somebody was trying to cross it out ; )

and only later go to Warsaw. But it did not make sense if you have a look on the map, and

on train/ bus connections. So we took the INTERNATIONAL train, from Czech to Poland and went straight to Warsaw. Didn't feel right to skip Łódź, as we had a friend waiting for us there, so we just dropped kids with my parents and managed to go to Łódź the same evening.

The city was nice, but we have been there less than 24hrs, so we couldn't really explore it.

Instead focused on hanging out with friends. Because it is absolutely lovely to re- visit a couchsurfer, who was staying in your house when Yana was only 8 months old!
