Singapore - the perfect mix

Singapore, in our case, it's not only a good flight connection spot.
It's mainly where Jayu lives - Vathsan's sister/ Yana's beloved aunty.
Staying with Jayu was like hopping on a time machine. As she is 7 years younger than
Vathsan, she still lives the way we were before we had kids.
With another 5 more people she is renting a nice large apartment in Singapore, which
was big enough, to let our family just stay in a living room. As you can imagine, house full of
people in their 20's it's not a child friendly environment, yet our kids absolutely loved it,
had great fun, and with our little bit of supervision did not harm themselves.
Singapore is a cultural mixture of Malay, Chinese and Tamil people.
With us speaking Mandarin, and Vathsan's origins, our family fits to that place very nicely.
We felt like we are finally back in Asia, with all the flavours and streets full of people.
We initially even forgot that this is something new to our kids. With Yana being in the belly
during the whole 2011 China, Malaysia and Indonesia trip, we always thought she was part of
our asian travels.
It was first time we brought our kids to such a big city. With all the corwd, buses, subway
and trains. So for them taking a public transport was an adventure itself!
We also spent one day closer to nature, cycling on a Pulau Ubin, which is an island not far from the airport. Staying on bikes for few hours in a jungle, felt like a breeze of our last year trip...
We managed to meet up with our old neighbours. Yep, the family who was
living next door to us, where we rented our first house in Auckland.
Some people simply live next to each other, and stay polite, smile and say Hi when
they see you, but we took it to the next level! We were celebrating together Christmas and all birthdays, so you can imagine the big change in our life when they had to move out
from NZ and settle in Singapore.
