Picking up kids in India

From Sri Lanka we went back to India. Our kids and family were waiting for us impatiently. Ok....Maybe they were not crazy impatient, but were definitely happy to see us. We still had few days left before we were flying back to NZ so we were chillin and hanging out. Here is how our hang out in Coimbatore looked like : We had multiple BUCKET showers. We simply love them, and our kids are obsessed about them. I totally know why, they waste much less water than a normal running water shower and for kids they look like a water play.

We were going everywhere on Vathsan's mum scooter, many people, many configurations. The law changed, from last year's " no-one needs a helmet" to this year's "the driver should be wearing a helmet, but he is the only one obliged to wear it", so we were going everywhere with an average of 1 helmet per 2 or 3 people. Not the safest, I know...But when in Rome.. : )

Obviously we were eating heaps of food. Pati makes the best home made Dosas (fermented pancakes). She is writing Bruno and Yana's name on the pan, as she pours the liquid before frying. Who wouldn't want to eat their name Dosa?

Me and Vathsan were trying to go out and visit different eateries in Coimbatore, just to try more flavours, to taste the difference in dishes from several states. We even ordered Masala Cola with one meal, I mean Masala Cola! Can you imagine?

*Masala is a very popular spice mix used in India for cooking.

We were going for a local coffee. Many people when it comes to India has rather image of spicy milky tea, the famous Masala Chai, than coffee. But when it comes to South of India, coffee is the local hot drink. Still same like chai it's very milky and sweet. Served with two cups so you can pour it from one to another to stir it all up and cool down at the same time. Also I personally enjoyed watching traffic, and recorded the whole thing, so you can have a look :

We were shopping for herbal Ayurveda beauty products. Ayurveda is India's traditional medicine. Similar to Chinese medicine, it can be implemented in many ways and covers many areas. It also has a holistic approach to humans body. We were stocking up on some good quality, therapeutic pure herbal creams and washes, just to give our bodies a break from the typical chemical products we usually buy in supermarkets.

We were also doing the usual, being social and going to some temples. Kids were trying to play wherever they could. They made friends with neighbours and Yana was pretending to play hopscotch on many Kolams (floor drawing made out of rice flour).
