Settled for good?

A big apologies for all those who have been waiting last....ehm...6 months....for us to publish something on our blog. A big thank you for all those who did not give up, and are sitting right now, reading this post : ) As you probably remember, last story we shared, was all about us leaving Auckland for good. We vacated our house, put our jobs on hold, and went to travel. We also stayed all mysterious about it, and told you we will be sharing updates with you

as we go, little by little . Which we did, but only on facebook

( shame on us for giving up on website and youtube)

Shifting cities, and even Islands, took more of our energy than we expected.

Many travelers say, they are able to travel because they are all free, don't have mortgage, can simply save money and leave their jobs whenever they want. They can just pack up and go. Yes, that is correct, being debt free is always easier and feels liberating.... :)

As long as you are open minded and willing to pick up an adventure, without any loan, you should

find it easier to go to travel. We also took advantage of such a set up, we were very happy when we realized we can simply vacate the house, pack for travel and put everything else, the excess staff, to a storage.

BUT, to be honest we also left Auckland mostly because of housing crisis. We snoozed our opportunity of buying house there, when it was still affordable. If we were not so scared of commitment 5 years ago, by now we would be happy Auckland based house owners, spending spare time planning where next to go to travel, instead of figuring out where should we be re-locating, so we can start everything from scratches again.

Unlike for many other travelers, buying house became our top priority.

We were really hoping to buy a nice property. We saw it more like an investment. A backup option, a safety net for our young family, here in Nz. You buy a house, you do it once, and then you can move on with all other aspects of your life.

You can finally stop paying the rent and stop saving money for the house deposit at the same time.

A challenge of buying a house, is precisely what kept us so busy for the past few months.

This is also the main reason why we went so silent.

The good new is: it's finally over!!!

We got our lovely, spacious house, not far from popular St Kilda Surf Beach.

We moved in about a month ago.

It took some time to unpack these boxes, and some more time to re-arrange everything, but we are mostly done. With no sofa in living room, no double glazing in any of the windows, and little things missing here and there, but these final touches will get fixed with time, little by little.

Now as we are finally well settled, I will do my best to catch up with you guys on Vathsan Clan's adventures. There is so many stories we still want to share with you :

- from India

- from Sri Lanka

- about driving down south, our route Auckland - Dunedin

- describing first days, weeks, months in Dunedin

Oh gosh, I better start as soon as I can : )

Peace and love, from the family
